JLK Acquires Domestic Patent for Deep Learning Technology for Cerebral Hemorrhage Diagnosis

JLK announced on the 18th that it has acquired a domestic technology patent for a deep learning-based cerebral hemorrhage diagnosis device and method used in its stroke AI solution.

The 'Deep Learning-based Cerebral Hemorrhage Diagnosis Device and Method' applied for by JLK was finally registered early this month. JLK stated that it secured this patented technology by focusing on the problem that the analysis and diagnosis speed of existing 3D medical images were slow, making it difficult to apply them to emergency patients.

This patent is a technology that analyzes multiple CT images with a deep learning model to detect cerebral hemorrhage lesions, reconstructs them in three dimensions, and quickly calculates the probability of a patient’s cerebral hemorrhage. It is expected to become an essential technology for establishing a rapid treatment plan in emergency situations, as it can accurately diagnose cerebral hemorrhage with only CT images, which are cheaper and faster to take than MRI.

When a patient suspected of having a stroke is transferred to the hospital, the first diagnostic step that the medical staff performs is to determine whether there is a cerebral hemorrhage through a non-contrast CT scan. Therefore, this patented technology is attracting attention as an important technology that will bring about medical innovation through quick and accurate diagnosis in emergency medical settings.

In particular, demand for stroke AI solutions is expected to be high in the United States, which is considered the world's largest medical market, and Japan, which is rapidly aging. Demand for JLK's original technology is also expected to be sufficient.

JLK CEO Kim Dong-min said, “With the acquisition of a domestic technology patent for a deep learning-based cerebral hemorrhage diagnosis device and method, JLK’s medical AI technology capabilities have been recognized domestically and internationally, and we have been able to strengthen our technological defense capabilities,” emphasizing, “We will focus on expanding our supply chain through global market expansion including the U.S. and Japan, and creating tangible results through obtaining insurance premiums and signing distributor contracts.”
