Cowintech Signs Supply Contract for 46 Cylindrical Battery Assembly/Activation Process Automation System

Cowintech announced on the 18th that it had received a contract worth 32 billion won for an automated system for assembling and activating cylindrical 46-pie batteries.

Through this order, Cowintech plans to supply assembly and activation process automation systems to a global major battery company in two installments. The company explained that it signed the first purchase order (PO) out of a total contract worth 32 billion won, worth about 16 billion won, and that it plans to receive the second purchase order in the second half of the year.

Previously, Cowintech signed a contract to supply an electrode process automation system for cylindrical 46-pie batteries in January. Through this order, the company secured a turnkey supply of an automation system up to the assembly and activation process, strengthening its turnkey supply capacity for major manufacturing processes.

Since last year, Cowintech has been making full-fledged inroads into the next-generation battery market, including all-solid-state batteries and cylindrical batteries, and expects that the supply of this key process automation system will be a significant turning point in its conquest of the global market.

The company also said that in addition to the automation system, it is also receiving increasing orders for automation robots, such as signing AMR supply contracts in recognition of its transfer robot control and ultra-precision docking technology. Starting this year, Cowintech plans to focus on expanding its business by industry.

A Cowintech official said, “We are positive about the fact that the main process of the next-generation cylindrical 46-pie battery is being supplied turnkey with our automated system, and we plan to expand our business into various industrial fields.” He added, “We expect an increase in orders across all business sectors due to the expansion of AI data centers and increased demand for ESS, and together with our subsidiary Top Material, we will secure full-fledged order momentum in the LFP battery-related business.”
