
Forty2Dot, which is in charge of Hyundai Motor Group’s transition to software-centric vehicles (SDVs), is taking its first step toward building a smart city in cooperation with Shinsegae Property. This agreement is about cooperation for the introduction of autonomous mobility and logistics services within the Hwaseong Star Bay City complex development project promoted by Shinsegae Property, and the two companies plan to implement an efficient and sustainable urban environment through a smart city integrated solution.
Fortytwodot and Shinsegae Property signed a business agreement (MOU) on the 14th at the Shinsegae Property headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by Fortytwodot CEO Song Chang-hyun, Shinsegae Group President Lim Young-rok, and other related officials, and through this agreement, the two companies discussed cooperation plans to create a differentiated smart city environment that demonstrates smart city solutions in Hwaseong Star Bay City and suggests a new lifestyle.
The core of this MOU is the collaboration between Shinsegae Property, which aims to implement a future mobility environment suitable for a smart city, and Forty2Dot, which aims to establish an urban mobility operating system. Star Bay City is a 4,189,000㎡ mixed-use development project located in Songsan Green City, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and will provide an innovative urban environment encompassing culture, shopping, leisure, and leisure.
The two companies will build cutting-edge infrastructure to implement smart cities and introduce mobility and control solutions to key locations within the city. Through this, they aim to create a leading model for domestic smart cities and expand to other regions. Forty2Dot will operate and maintain autonomous passenger and logistics services and vehicle control solutions, and through this, they plan to integrate and analyze data within the city and provide user-centered services.
Fortytwodot plans to operate a system that analyzes real-time traffic volumes and dispatches robotaxis along optimal routes through its self-developed integrated vehicle-calling platform. In addition, it will establish an intelligent control system to support the safe and convenient operation of various services such as automatic delivery of tourist luggage or shopping items, and autonomous driving of golf carts.
Shinsegae Property plans to build a state-of-the-art smart city infrastructure by considering the main routes of the floating population in Starbay City, creating autonomous driving roads and service operation sites. In addition, it plans to develop mobility-linked products linked to nearby tourist complexes to maximize convenience for citizens.
Fortytwodot and Shinsegae Property plan to establish a master plan within the year and expand business and development cooperation with the goal of opening Starbay City in 2029. Fortytwodot CEO Song Chang-hyun said, “The core of a smart city is user-centered value,” and “Through this agreement, we have laid the foundation for verifying smart city solutions and moving toward commercialization.” He continued, “We will connect urban transportation OS solutions and various devices so that anyone can enjoy safe and convenient transportation.”
Shinsegae Group President Lim Young-rok said, “The autonomous mobility system is an important milestone that presents a new paradigm not only for transportation but also for citizens’ overall lifestyles,” and added, “Through this agreement, we will introduce a user-centered, high-quality autonomous driving solution to Starbay City and lead the development of a smart city.”
