The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) announced on the 14th that it will recruit SMEs to participate in the '2025 Ministry Collaboration Type Smart Factory Construction Support Project' to support the introduction of customized smart factories optimized for manufacturing sites.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Smart Factory Construction Support Project is supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the form of a package by linking the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Smart Factory Advancement Project with each ministry's projects, such as GMP certification, export activation, and talent development, to foster national strategic projects and resolve pressing issues such as industrial safety.

As the need for systematic support at the inter-ministerial level to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises increases, this year, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and eight ministries (Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries) will collaborate to select 150 companies in 10 fields and provide up to KRW 200 million (50% of the total project cost) per company.

In particular, the K-beauty field will focus on fostering a leading model of a cosmetics smart factory that meets the needs of the field through the K-beauty Alliance, which is comprised of a group of experts. This is expected to serve as a foundation for the further growth of K-beauty, with improvements in product production efficiency and quality, and expansion of the customized cosmetics market due to increased small-quantity, multi-variety production.
Kim Woo-joong, Director General for Regional Enterprise Policy, said, “In order to secure the competitiveness of domestic companies in this era of intensifying global competition, cooperation between ministries is essential in various aspects to go beyond simple financial support and effectively resolve the challenges faced by companies.” He added, “We will continue to actively support the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises by improving productivity, securing price competitiveness, and strengthening technological capabilities through the advancement of smart factories.”
