Naver Cloud (CEO Kim Yu-won) has reaffirmed its leading position in the public cloud market by winning the final bid for the Postal Service Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as Wubon), a cloud-based Internet PC business known as a large-scale public DaaS (Desktop as a Service) business.
This Ubon DaaS project is a large-scale project targeting approximately 33,000 former employees of Ubon, and Naver Cloud won the final contract by widening the gap in the technology sector in a fierce competition among five companies.
The company added that Naver Cloud's differentiated proposal, which provides a customized generative AI based on 'Hyperclova X' to improve work productivity and additionally supports Naver's browser 'Whale' to create an optimal work environment and take care of security, was highly evaluated.
The company emphasized that this project will be an important benchmark for expanding the DaaS market as the number of public institutions and companies seeking to introduce cloud-based DaaS is increasing due to issues such as recent relaxation of network separation, preference for non-face-to-face environment, and rising prices of foreign software.
Accordingly, Naver Cloud presented the optimal solution specialized for Ubon based on its experience in winning numerous public cloud contracts and its rich experience in building DaaS for the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), Seoul National University Hospital, and the Bank of Korea. In addition, it plans to collaborate with SK Broadband, which has VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) operation know-how, to provide a VDI solution that is customizable while helping with stable and efficient operation and management while increasing user convenience.
Naver Cloud Public Business Leader Kang Min-seok said, “The main goal of this Postal Service Headquarters DaaS business is to provide high-performance, high-quality DaaS services as well as enhanced security,” adding, “We will successfully support this DaaS service so that it can become the industry’s best reference.”
