BHI signs contract to supply auxiliary equipment for Shinhanul Units 3 and 4

BHI announced that it signed a total of two contracts with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (hereinafter referred to as KHNP) to supply auxiliary equipment (BOP, Balance of Plant) for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4. The total contract amount is KRW 100.1 billion, and the contract periods are scheduled to end on June 30, 2029 and July 31, 2029, respectively.

Last year, BHI received an advance work order (ATP) from Hanwha Solutions for the containment building steel plate (CLP) and stainless steel liner (SSLW) for Shinhanul Units 3 and 4. The ATP is a document requesting that work necessary for business purposes such as compliance with delivery dates be carried out before the contract takes effect, and was issued to enable BHI to respond quickly.

BOP refers to all components of a nuclear power plant excluding the main equipment such as the reactor, steam generator, and turbine generator. Representative BOP items include CLP and SSLW, which play an important role as special steel plates that prevent the leakage of radioactive materials within the nuclear power plant and as steel structures for storing spent nuclear fuel.

BHI is a company with a quality assurance system that can meet the highest quality requirements required by nuclear power plants, and is recognized as a qualified registered company by Hanwha Solutions for various auxiliary equipment items. In addition, it has export performance in the domestic and international nuclear power plant markets.

Considering that nuclear power plant BOP equipment is ordered in stages over several years, the company plans to focus on securing additional BOP orders this year, including condensers, feedwater heaters, and deaerators for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4.

A BHI official said, “We have the design and manufacturing technology to satisfy the high level of quality required for nuclear power plants,” and added, “Based on this achievement, we will do our best to succeed in securing additional items for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 and overseas nuclear power plant orders.”
