
Contec (CEO Lee Seong-hee) announced on the 30th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with SK AX (CEO Yoon Poong-young), a cutting-edge technology subsidiary of SK Group, to develop new businesses and strengthen strategic collaboration in the global space market.
Through this agreement, the two companies will establish a cooperative system with the goal of jointly developing and commercializing AI-based satellite image utilization solutions. The main areas of cooperation are ▲ satellite image quality improvement and data utilization ▲ AI-based object and change detection ▲ super-resolution technology for producing ultra-high-resolution satellite images ▲ development of a web-based satellite image utilization platform, etc.
This agreement focuses on integrating the technological prowess and business capabilities of both companies based on empirical research on satellite image processing and analysis using AI technology, and expanding cooperation into various space and defense-related fields in the future.
“Contek’s capabilities in providing vertically integrated solutions from satellite design to operation, image reception and analysis, combined with SK AX’s cloud, AI, and big data technologies, will enable us to build competitive core solutions in the global newspace market,” said Contek CEO Lee Seong-hee.
SK AX Strategic Business Division 2 Head Hwang Min-jeong said, “Technology convergence in the space and defense industries is a key factor in SK AX’s growth into a global AX (Advanced eXperience) service specialist,” and “We will use this collaboration as an important milestone to achieve our goal of entering the global top 10 within 10 years.”
