Freewillin signs business agreement with Korea University

Edtech company Freewillin announced on the 11th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with Korea University with the goal of developing AI courseware to strengthen the basic academic skills of new and current students. Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to advance the learning support system using generative artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerate the digital innovation of university education by providing customized education.

Freewillin provides basic academic diagnostic assessments and learning services for freshmen and current students at Korea University in subjects such as math, science, and English. In particular, it will support customized education for students admitted through the major self-selection system to help them effectively acquire essential competencies for each major, and plans to maximize the learning effect of university classes through AI courseware.

Korea University will operate a basic academic ability improvement program utilizing AI courseware 'Pulicampus' for four years starting this year, and plans to gradually expand AI-based learning solutions. In addition, starting in 2026, it will be the first domestic university to introduce Pulicampus' 'multilingual AI courseware service' to support the adaptation of foreign and overseas students to university life. Through this, it plans to provide an environment where students from various language backgrounds can study effectively and improve their Korean language learning capabilities.

The two institutions will also conduct joint research to develop AI courseware tailored to each major within the university curriculum and analyze academic achievements. Through this, they plan to maximize the effectiveness of higher education using AI learning systems and build an efficient learning infrastructure that can reduce operating costs.

Freewillin's 'Pulicampus' is a specialized AI courseware for university education that has already been introduced in 36 universities nationwide, including Yonsei University, Sogang University, Konkuk University, Kookmin University, and Soongsil University. The basic academic ability diagnostic assessment service has recorded a cumulative 170,000 test takers since its launch in 2021. According to an analysis of learning effects, the average math score of freshmen and current students increased by more than 26 points, and more than 90% of test takers experienced improved grades.

The agreement with Korea University is an important example of Fully Campus being introduced to a top-level private university in Korea. Based on this, Freewillin plans to lead innovation in university education at home and abroad and promote the popularization of AI-based customized learning.

Kim Dong-won, President of Korea University, said, “We expect that Freewillin’s innovative technology will create synergy when combined with Korea University’s educational infrastructure,” and “This agreement will be an important opportunity to contribute to improving Korea University’s basic learning capabilities.”

Kwon Ki-seong, CEO of Freewillin, said, “We are delighted to be able to provide a customized AI learning environment to Korea University students through this agreement and to advance the digital innovation of higher education,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to cooperate with various educational institutions to improve the quality of university education and further enhance students’ learning experience.”
