The Korea International Trade Association (KITA, Chairman Jin-sik Yoon) held a 'Japan Aeon Mall K-Square Special Hall Vendor Selection Consultation' for two days from the 10th to the 11th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

This consultation meeting was jointly hosted by five Korean and Japanese organizations and companies, including the Korea International Trade Association, Lotte Mart, Daehan Stock Exchange, AEON MALL, and Sojitsu Corporation, and was prepared to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan and to support the entry of Korean small and medium-sized enterprises into the Japanese market, which has recently been in the spotlight due to the '4th Korean Wave'.

The consultation session was attended directly by Japanese Aeon Mall and Sojitsu officials, and 81 companies were selected through preliminary screening among 710 domestic companies that applied for participation, and individual consultations were held. The companies that participated in the consultations were comprised of various fields such as ▲Food (39 companies) ▲Liquor (7) ▲Beauty/Cosmetics (23) ▲Other living goods (12). The 30 companies that were finally selected through this consultation will have the opportunity to open a store in the 'K-Square Special Hall' in three stores, including the Aeon Mall Tokyo store, the largest shopping mall in Japan, starting in June of this year.

In the process, Daehanju, an export and import specialist, and Lotte Mart will support the export agency of the final selected company. In particular, Lotte Mart will operate a Hallyu experience event together with Lotte Mart's integrated PB brand 'Today Good' Zone in the 'K-Square Special Hall' that will be established in the future.

Mr. Heo Yu-ri, CEO of food company Trevino, who participated in the consultation, said, “We participated in this consultation to increase our brand awareness in key commercial areas in Japan and to have contact with Japanese consumers by utilizing a large distribution network,” and “We will use this consultation as an opportunity to fully advance into the Japanese market.”

Lee Myeong-ja, head of the Overseas Marketing Division at the Korea International Trade Association, said, “This project was planned to establish a sustainable export environment for our country’s small and medium-sized enterprises to Japan and to secure the K-Product brand power targeting Japanese consumers,” adding, “We plan to strengthen cooperation with Aeon Mall, Sojitsu, and others and seek to expand distribution channels throughout Japan in the future.”
