Plainbit announced on the 7th that it has been accredited as an internationally accredited testing agency for computer and mobile digital forensics by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS). KOLAS is an organization under the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and its role is to evaluate and certify the quality of testing agencies according to international standards.
Digital forensics is an investigative technique that analyzes digital data remaining on various devices to find criminal clues. With this accreditation, Plainbit has been officially certified for its ability to conduct digital forensic analysis and testing based on international standards. Plainbit is the second private company to receive accreditation from KOLAS.
“There was distrust about whether private companies could safely manage digital crime evidence data, but this recognition has resolved those concerns and enabled us to manage all digital evidence based on international regulations,” said CEO Kim Jin-guk.
Plainbit prepared for KOLAS accreditation for about 18 months and met the management and technical requirements of the testing agency. In addition, it secured credibility in 116 countries around the world according to the ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) MRA (Mutual Recognition Agreement). Through this, Plainbit plans to increase the reliability of private companies’ digital forensic services and evidence data management and expand the related market size.
In addition, Plainbit plans to provide a platform for information sharing with companies preparing to obtain KOLAS accreditation for digital forensic service companies in the first half of 2025.
