KS Industry, ELM System Enter AI Data Center Market

KS Industry is making a full-fledged entry into the AI data center sector based on an innovative business strategy with ELM SYSTEM . To promote the business, the company recently decided on a three- tier paid-in capital increase worth a total of KRW 21 billion , and plans to create synergy with its existing offshore crane business . 

ELMSys, which will be collaborating with KS Industry, is a company that has conducted joint research with several overseas companies to develop next-generation intelligent communication chips . ELMSys signed an MOU with Sify Technologies Limited, a NASDAQ-listed company in India, for the establishment and operation of an AI data center , and through this, aims to supply AI operation optimization infrastructure and cloud services domestically . 

In addition, ELM Systems decided on a paid-in capital increase of 10 billion won on the 3rd to strengthen cooperation with KS Industry . KS Industry plans to select new directors at the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders scheduled for February 19th to strengthen its AI data center business capabilities . The candidates for directors include the Vice President (EVP) of SiPhi Technologies and a former head of Qualcomm Inc. Research Labs .

An official from KS Industry said , “ AI data centers based on communication and AI technologies will become the core infrastructure of an intelligent society that will respond to ultra-large-scale computational demands . To this end, we will secure competitiveness in the global market based on ELM Systems’ technological prowess. He added, VT Group also agreed with our vision and decided to increase capital by 6 billion won and coordinated the investment schedule with ELM Systems, so we will be able to secure strong business momentum .

Meanwhile, KS Industry is also conducting research to solve the heat generation problem of existing AI data centers through collaboration with its subsidiary , TITL . TITL's paper on topological insulator technology was selected as one of the top 1% papers in Nature in 2020 .
