Korea Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Technology (KEVIT) and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) are collaborating to enhance the convenience of electric vehicle charging. The two companies signed a business agreement (MOU) to expand the Plug and Charge (PnC) service and agreed to provide better services for charging customers.
This agreement aims to improve charging services so that charging customers can use PnC services more easily and safely by utilizing smart control slow chargers that have recently been attracting attention. Smart control chargers prevent overcharging of electric vehicles, and PnC technology is a system in which electric vehicle users can authenticate and pay simply by connecting their vehicles to the charger without a separate app or authentication procedure. This allows users to charge more safely and conveniently.
KEVIT will utilize smart control slow charger PLC technology and KEPCO's EVC electronic certificate to enable charging customers to use PnC services safely and easily. The two companies' technology provides reliable control technology and authentication system based on international standards, and builds a stable and secure charging infrastructure.
KEVIT CEO Oh Se-young said, “Through this agreement, we expect to create an environment where electric vehicle users can charge more safely and conveniently. We will continue to lead the innovation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure through continuous technological development and cooperation.”
“Based on the KEPCO EVC electronic certificate, we can now provide a smarter charging service,” said Lee Sang-won, head of the Energy New Business Division at KEPCO. “We will work closely with KEVIT to grow the electric vehicle charging market.”
