Asan Nanum Foundation announced on the 5th that it will recruit startups to move into the entrepreneurship platform 'MARU' from February 7th to March 4th.
'Maru' is an incubator that supports the growth of startups, and comprehensively provides the space infrastructure, network, and education necessary for startups. Currently, Maru houses about 30 startups, as well as domestic and international venture capitals, accelerators, and startup support organizations, and provides a venue for various startup ecosystem members to interact. Through this, it is spreading the pay-it-forward culture.
The startups selected in the first half of this year will move into Maru180 and Maru360 for up to 1 year and 6 months starting in April. The startups that move in will receive not only office space, but also various support benefits for growth and community. The startups that move in will be assigned office space by team and can freely use auxiliary facilities such as conference rooms, lounges, shower rooms, and sleeping rooms. In addition, the event hall, studio, and seminar room can be used free of charge, and the kids’ zone can be used at a discounted price.
Through the 'Marubenefit' program, startups that move in will receive benefits worth up to 620 million won per year, and can use various services necessary for startups, such as development, recruitment, promotion, and welfare, for free or at a discounted price. In addition, they can receive various support such as 1:1 mentoring with 75 industry experts and senior founders, and the 'Marubire IR Matching' program that connects startups with domestic and foreign VCs and supports investment attraction. Up to 5 million won in support funds for overseas expansion are also provided.
Startups that move in can participate in various community programs such as regular town halls, clubs, and workshops, which encourage sharing of experiences and know-how based on the Pay It Forward culture. They can also participate in the 'Asan Leadership Coaching' program, which increases the resilience of entrepreneurs.
The qualifications for startup support are domestic startups that have been incorporated for less than 5 years and have 3 to 12 employees, excluding gambling and entertainment businesses. Companies that have been certified as venture companies are given preference, and startups that are in line with Maru's values and direction are given preference. In particular, ▲teams that actively share experiences and insights for the virtuous cycle of the startup ecosystem, ▲teams that solve important problems for humanity and pursue positive changes, and ▲teams that develop innovative products and services targeting the global market are given preference.
Companies wishing to move in can apply on the official Maru website from February 7 to March 4, and startups will be selected through document evaluation and interview screening. The final list of tenants will be announced in March, and move-in will begin on April 1.
Cheon Seong-woo, head of the startup team at Asan Nanum Foundation, said, “Maru is an entrepreneurship platform that goes beyond simply providing a space and supports startups’ challenges and growth in various ways,” adding, “We hope to receive support from many startups that want to take on challenges, grow together with Maru, and unfold infinite possibilities.”
