The Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Won-kyung Kim, hereinafter referred to as the Gyeonggi Innovation Center) announced on the 5th that it is recruiting participating companies for the '2025 Climate Tech Startup Promotion Project' in cooperation with Gyeonggi Province to discover promising climate technologies and foster them into global top-tier companies.
This project aims to discover and foster promising climate tech startups that can effectively respond to climate change and create tangible results. To this end, we plan to focus on producing climate tech unicorns through open innovation, investment, and global expansion support led by the public and private sectors.
The first batch of climate tech startups that received support in 2024 have achieved remarkable results and proven their potential to enter the global market. They have been recognized for their technological excellence and marketability by winning the 'CES Innovation Awards' and 'Edison Awards', and have been included in the top 100 climate tech startups selected by the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).
In particular, they have laid the foundation for global expansion by signing business agreements with companies in various regions including the Americas, Europe, and Asia. These achievements demonstrate that startups with technological prowess and market competitiveness in the climate tech sector are providing a foundation for continued growth.
Climate tech startups selected in 2025 will have more advanced global expansion strategies and diverse business expansion opportunities in the domestic market. To this end, the Gyeonggi Innovation Center plans to support the concentrated growth of startups by expanding public open innovation, PoC (Proof of Concept) linkages with large and medium-sized companies, and attracting private investment.
They will also be given the privilege of attending the exhibition at the 'Local Government Climate Summit' in April, which will give them the opportunity to directly introduce their technology and products to public climate leaders and private investors from around the world. This opportunity will be a great help for startups to solidify their position in the global market.
An official from the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation emphasized, “We hope that this project will discover innovative startups that can contribute to responding to climate change, and that it will be an opportunity for the climate tech sector to simultaneously realize economic value and sustainable growth.”
Companies wishing to receive support can apply through the Gyeonggi Provincial Government , Gyeonggi Center for Creative Innovation Economy , and Pangyo Startup Zone websites, and further details can be found on the respective websites.
