
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced that it will recruit universities to participate in the 'Global Talent Employment Leading Universities' for 25 years and operating institutions for the 'K-Export Warrior Academy' in order to expand employment linkages between domestic and foreign students in SMEs suffering from manpower shortages.
'Global Talent Employment Leading University' is a program that strengthens the employment capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises by providing customized employment education, internships, and field training opportunities for international students in Korea, and operates by selecting 10 universities.
The 'K-Export Warrior Academy' is a project that trains foreign students with a high level of understanding of overseas local markets as export experts for small and medium-sized enterprises by providing job training in export fields such as trade practices and linking them to employment at exporting small and medium-sized enterprises. One operating organization is selected to provide training by major region.
Specific business announcements can be found on the website of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the website of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and the K-WORK platform, a job matching platform exclusively for international students, from the 31st. Applications for the ‘Global Talent Employment Leading University’ will be accepted from January 31st to February 24th, and for the ‘K-Export Warrior Academy’ from January 31st to February 28th.
Kim Woo-joong, the director of local enterprise policy, said, “In order to alleviate the problem of manpower shortage in small and medium-sized enterprises, we will actively promote the program to utilize excellent foreign students, and we hope that many universities and institutions with the capacity and will will show interest in this recruitment.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups is also announcing the application and acceptance for the 'E-7-1 visa employment recommendation for hiring international students,' and the visa recommendation for converting non-professional workers (E-9) to skilled workers (E-7-4) in addition to foreign international students.
