Susan Industry and Hanwha Solutions Sign 'Nuclear Power Plant Electrical Equipment Maintenance Work Contract'

Susan Industry , a specialist in comprehensive maintenance solutions for power plants, announced on the 1st that it signed a contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (hereinafter referred to as KHNP) for maintenance work on nuclear power plant mechanical and electrical equipment worth a total of 93.6 billion won.

According to the public notice, Ssangyong Industries has won contracts for the maintenance of electrical equipment for Saeul Nuclear Power Plant Units 1 and 2 and Shinwol Nuclear Power Plant Units 1 and 2, with contract amounts of KRW 32.9 billion and KRW 52.4 billion, respectively. The performance period for both contracts is from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027.

In addition, Ssangyong Industries announced that it has also received a new order for maintenance work on Saeul Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4, which are currently under construction. The contract is worth approximately 8.3 billion won, and maintenance work is scheduled to be performed until June 30, 2027. The scope of maintenance will be centered on routine maintenance, but if planned preventive maintenance work is included in the future, the contract amount may be further expanded.

The total order amount for these three contracts is 93.6 billion won, which is approximately 29.6% of Susan Industry's consolidated sales for 2024.

An official from Ssangyong Industry said, “As the share of domestic nuclear power generation is expected to increase to 35% by 2038, we believe that this order will serve as the foundation for expanding the nuclear power plant maintenance business in the future,” adding, “We are also developing technology to respond to future nuclear power plant decommissioning demand, and based on this, we are preparing to enter the overseas nuclear power plant decommissioning market as well as the domestic one.”
