Redwit, Patent Office officially designated as 'Trade Secret Original Certification Agency'

Redwit has been officially designated as a trade secret original certification agency by the Patent Office.

Redwit provides “GOONO,” an electronic lab notebook solution for research data management and protection, and supports an environment where researchers can manage data efficiently and safely. “GOONO” is an electronic lab notebook service that systematically records and stores various data generated during the research process, and is receiving a lot of attention from various industries as the importance of data management in the research and development (R&D) field increases.

With this designation, Redwit will play a role as an organization that can systematically support original certification of trade secrets held by companies and research institutes. The trade secret original certification service is a service that proves that trade secrets contained in electronic files are original. By registering electronic fingerprints, electronic signatures, and time information extracted from the original electronic file with the original certification agency, trade secret holders can prove the fact of possession and the time of possession without leaking the original. Through this, Redwit plans to contribute to improving the research environment and protecting technology for companies and research institutes.

Since the original certification system was implemented in 2014 in accordance with the revised Unfair Competition Prevention Act, original certification agencies have been limited to public institutions. However, this time, for the first time, a private agency has been designated, allowing trade secret holders to use the original certification service by selecting the agency of their choice among four agencies, including the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency.

A Redwit official said, “This designation as a trade secret original certification agency is the result of national recognition of Redwit’s expertise and reliability in the field of data security and management,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that researchers and companies can manage their data with peace of mind.”
