Ministry of SMEs and Startups, '2025 Startup AI Technology Human Resources Training Program' trainee recruitment

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced on the 23rd that it will be recruiting trainees for the '2025 Startup AI Technology Personnel Training Project (Ear Dream School)', which fosters young talents in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

The 'Startup AI Technology Personnel Training Project (Eardream School)' is a project that trains unemployed youth as AI field workers to resolve the manpower shortage in startups in the artificial intelligence field and supports employment and entrepreneurship.

This project started in 2021 and has supported the operation of AI field education courses, provision of opportunities to participate in domestic and international AI competitions, execution of startup field projects, and operation of internship programs.

This year, we plan to significantly improve the education curriculum and employment linkage methods to enhance the AI practical capabilities of young trainees and strengthen employment linkage with startups.

First, we will improve the educational curriculum by collaborating with the best AI universities in the country.

We plan to benchmark the advanced education courses operated by AI specialized universities such as KAIST and GIST and provide a curriculum that reflects the latest technological trends by forming a teaching staff of AI specialized university professors.

In particular, we plan to conduct a pilot operation (within 50 people) of a 'recruitment pre-matching track' that preemptively discovers recruitment needs for ultra-small startups and member companies of related associations, matches them with trainees, provides customized training (within 3 months) and internships (within 2 months), and links them to full-time employment, thereby fostering customized talent that startups want.

In addition, in order to improve the academic achievement and satisfaction of students, overseas training opportunities will be provided to excellent students, such as those with excellent grades and those who have found early employment, and some of the expenses for meals and transportation will also be supported.

The trainees selected this year (5th group) will participate in training for approximately 9 months (5 times a week, 8 hours a day) starting in mid-March. The training center is located in Guro, Seoul (G Tower), and non-face-to-face courses will also be operated to expand educational participation among youth living outside the metropolitan area.

A total of 200 trainees will be selected. The face-to-face course conducted at the Guro Education Center will be for 50 students, and the non-face-to-face course conducted in real-time online format with the same curriculum as the face-to-face course will be for 150 students. Any unemployed youth under the age of 39 can apply, regardless of their academic background or major.

Future applications will close on Sunday, February 23, and successful applicants will be announced in mid-March following an aptitude test and interview in the field of artificial intelligence.

Kyung-won Cho, Director of Startup Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “Although AI technology is developing rapidly, startups are having difficulty securing manpower,” and added, “We will work to foster excellent young talent in the AI field to resolve the manpower shortage at startups and increase the youth employment rate.”
