Wika Mobility (CEO Taeyoung Jeong, Seungbeom Lee) , a venture company specializing in automobile diagnostics and delivery, and TuneIt (CEO Youngwook Song), a leading smart mobility company, signed an agreement on the 22nd to develop diagnostic technology covering electric and internal combustion engine vehicles.
According to a WikaMobility official, the current used car market is applying depreciation standards centered on internal combustion engine vehicles that do not reflect the characteristics of electric vehicles, causing inconvenience to both consumers and the industry. In particular, the official pointed out that the reliability of electric vehicle transactions is undermined because the battery’s remaining capacity (SOC), state of health (SOH), and insulation performance, which are unique evaluation items for electric vehicles, are excluded.
The two companies announced that they plan to introduce an integrated diagnostic solution applicable to both electric and internal combustion engine vehicles to solve these problems. The new solution being developed by the two companies is characterized by providing precise diagnosis of the core components of electric vehicles, such as batteries and high-voltage systems, and diagnostic and fault code (DTC) analysis functions for core components, such as reducers, drive motors, and inverters, thereby generating reliable data for both consumers and the industry.
“Globally, technology for diagnosing electric vehicles has not yet been established,” said Tae-young Jeong, CEO of WikaMobility. “The electric vehicle diagnostic devices and diagnostic technologies that will be developed through this agreement will serve as an important opportunity to increase the reliability of the used electric vehicle transaction market and strengthen the competitiveness of the electric vehicle industry.” Jeong added, “Furthermore, this will serve as an opportunity to lead the global diagnostic technology standards.”
A representative of WicaMobility stated, “The diagnostic technology that will emerge from this collaboration will go beyond simply solving the problems of used car transactions and will present a new standard for automobile diagnostic technology.” He added, “It will increase the reliability of the used car market and serve as a bridge connecting consumers and the industry in the rapidly growing global electric vehicle transaction market.”
