Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence hub of Alibaba Group, has been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Database Management Systems (DBMS) for the fifth consecutive year.
Gartner evaluates cloud DBMS vendors based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision. It determines their position in the Magic Quadrant through criteria across 15 key areas, including product or service, customer experience, market understanding, product strategy, and innovation. According to Gartner, “Leaders represent a diverse cloud ecosystem that includes their cloud DBMS, or have excellent interoperability with these systems. These companies consistently demonstrate high customer satisfaction and strong customer support.”
“We are honored to be named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud DBMS for five consecutive years,” said Dr. Feifei Li, President of Alibaba Cloud Database Products Business Unit. “In an era where effective data management has become the core infrastructure for business operations and generative AI development across industries, we are committed to continuously providing cutting-edge, high-performance solutions to help enterprises unleash the potential of their data.”
◆ Building cloud-native innovation and an enhanced partner ecosystem to support customer success
Alibaba Cloud provides a wide range of self-developed cloud native database products, including relational database PolarDB, data warehouse AnalyticDB, multimodal database Lindorm, and Data Management Service (DMS), and continues to strengthen its product capabilities. At its flagship event, Apsara Conference in 2024, Alibaba Cloud announced DMS: OneMeta+OneOps, a platform that can unify data sources of databases, data warehouses, and data lakes in multi-cloud environments to help organizations efficiently manage data and create value. This platform can improve data utilization rates by up to 10 times.
Alibaba Cloud is committed to building a diverse and open ecosystem with database vendors. Alibaba Cloud collaborates with global partners such as MongoDB, ClickHouse, and SelectDB to provide a variety of third-party database products, open source products, and integrated solutions to support customers’ changing needs.
Alibaba Cloud’s cloud-native database innovations and partner ecosystem are being widely adopted by enterprises across industries, from finance, retail, internet, and generative AI developers.
MiniMax, a leading Chinese AI technology company, has built MiniMax API Platform and generative AI application Hailuo AI based on Alibaba Cloud’s multimodal database Lindom as its underlying data service. Lindom, with its built-in AI inference capabilities, provides large-scale data storage and high-performance data search capabilities, enabling MiniMax to rapidly build intelligent AI search services.
TNG Digital, which operates Malaysia’s largest integrated fintech platform TNG eWallet, supports over 22 million verified users and over 2 million merchant payments nationwide. TNG Digital has collaborated with Alibaba Cloud to support its growing user base while ensuring a seamless service experience. During the eMADANI event, TNG eWallet maintained stable services without any downtime, relying on Alibaba Cloud’s advanced security cloud products. Leveraging the cloud-native database PolarDB, the platform effectively managed high transaction volumes while ensuring a smooth customer experience even during peak hours. Alibaba Cloud also provides TNG Digital eWallet with NoSQL database ApsaraDB for MongoDB to explore business opportunities through AI innovation.
ZA Bank, Hong Kong’s first and largest digital bank, has fully switched to Alibaba Cloud’s database services for secure, scalable and efficient data management. By adopting Alibaba Cloud’s relational database ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL for its core systems, ZA Bank can quickly adjust computing resources and storage capacity based on business demands. This demand-based scalability enables the bank to effectively manage traffic fluctuations. RDS MySQL also provides multi-layered security protection, including data encryption, access control, security auditing and DDoS protection, ensuring data security and privacy while meeting regulatory compliance requirements.
