Esports company SBXG announced on the 23rd that it has signed a strategic business agreement with DNC Media to realize joint marketing through IP utilization between the two companies. The agreement signing ceremony was held on the 22nd at the BNK FEARX Clubhouse in Jonggak, Seoul, with SBXG CEO Jeong-Hyeon Lim, DNC Media CEO Won-Young Choi, and other related officials in attendance.
SBXG owns BNK FEARX, a club active in global esports leagues such as the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) League, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, and Eternal Return, and has been active as an esports team representing Busan since signing an agreement with Busan Metropolitan City in July 2021.
DNC Media is a company specializing in planning, producing, and distributing webtoons and IPs, and is well known for works such as “Only I Level Up” and “This Life, I Will Become a Head of Household.” It also produces novels of various genres in the form of novel comics, and is actively engaged in discovering new writers and OSMU (One Source Multi Use) projects.
Through this agreement, SBXG and DNC Media will develop various secondary IP businesses utilizing each company’s player, character, and webtoon IPs, and actively cooperate in promotional and marketing work. SBXG will naturally promote DNC Media’s webtoons by including them in BNK FEARX’s events and content, and DNC Media plans to proceed with webtoon and IP collaborations utilizing the IP of BNK FEARX players. In addition, SBXG will plan and operate collaboration cafes and pop-up events utilizing DNC Media IPs at offline spaces located in Seoul and Busan, including Portal, Mouse Potato, and Brena.
DNC Media CEO Won-Young Choi said, “We will open up new possibilities through the MOU agreement with BNK FEARX,” and “We hope to lead the convergence of eSports and content industries and create a better future through the cooperation between our two companies.”
SBXG CEO Lim Jeong-hyeon said, “The collaboration with DNC Media is in line with SBXG’s vision of building a cultural ecosystem beyond esports,” and added, “Through this agreement, we will do our best to introduce DNC Media’s webtoon IP to esports fans and produce meaningful results through joint marketing.”
