MegaZone Cloud Selected as Joint Research Institution for 'Quantum Computing Service and Utilization System Construction Project'

MegaZone Cloud (CEO Dong-Hoon Yeom) , an AI and cloud specialized company, announced on the 7th that it was selected as a joint research institution for the 'Quantum Computing Service and Utilization System Construction' project hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

This project aims to establish a national quantum computing utilization foundation and build a hybrid computing service system that integrates supercomputing and quantum computing. The Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) is the lead research institute, and Megazone Cloud is participating as a joint research institute. SDT, Sookmyung Women's University, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), and Kumoh National Institute of Technology are participating as contracted research institutes.

Through this project, the quantum computer 'Tempo' (100 qubit class) from the US company IonQ will be introduced domestically, and the equipment will be installed at KISTI. Tempo is an ion trap type quantum computer, and its characteristics include providing high stability and accuracy through precise ion control.

MegaZone Cloud plans to promote various activities for the industrial expansion and practical use of quantum computing through this project. It will hold related educational programs and seminars regularly to help industry, academia, and research personnel understand the technology, and provide quantum algorithm design experience through practice-oriented programs such as hackathons and workshops. It also plans to operate industry-tailored consulting to support companies in establishing quantum technology adoption strategies.

Dong-ho Kim, Chief Quantum Officer of MegaZone Cloud, said, “This project goes beyond the simple introduction of quantum computers and is part of technology-based research to prepare for the future era of fully error-tolerant quantum computing (FTQC),” adding, “We will actively contribute to creating an industry-centered quantum ecosystem, fostering practical talent, and commercializing technology.”
