Wayvis Signs Export Contract with Indian Defense Company for High-Power Amplifier Modules

RF semiconductor specialist Waybis Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ: 289930, CEO Min-seok Han) announced on the 8th that it has signed an export contract with a private Indian defense company for high-power amplifier modules for anti-drone jammers and is embarking on a full-scale attack on the Indian anti-drone market.

This contract is a follow-on order to the first supply contract signed by Waybis in 2023, in which the company will supply high-power amplifier modules equipped with its gallium nitride (GaN)-based RF semiconductor chips to the Indian Ministry of Defence. The modules will be a key component in anti-drone jammers that neutralize drones through radio interference, and the delivered equipment will be installed in the India-Pakistan border area.

Wayvis' partner is a leading private defense company in India with over 30 years of experience in the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and avionics fields, and is supplying technology to India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the International Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Wayvis is securing technology that can be used in various fields such as weapon systems, communications, and satellites based on gallium nitride (GaN) RF semiconductors that can simultaneously implement high output and efficiency in high-frequency bands. It is evaluated that this supply will contribute to stabilizing the supply and demand of defense electronic components in India and is also expected to expand exports of domestic technology.

A company official said, “Gallium nitride RF semiconductors are subject to export controls by advanced countries, so domestically produced Wavis products are attracting attention as an alternative in regions where securing the technology is difficult,” adding, “We will further expand our position in the Indian market based on our accumulated technological prowess and production infrastructure.”

In addition to the anti-drone system, Wayvis is also pursuing the supply of a variety of product lines for the commercial anti-drone market, which is being increasingly introduced in public institutions and schools in India. In addition to this defense contract, Wayvis has also succeeded in supplying GaN RF semiconductors for Indian railway communication infrastructure, opening up the possibility of expanding related businesses in India, where railway modernization is in progress.

Meanwhile, Waybis plans to complete commercialization of the X-band (8–12 GHz) process this year and, based on this, expand the scope of cooperation with Indian defense companies in high-frequency applications such as next-generation radars, electronic warfare systems, and satellites.
