SDT participates in the 'Quantum Computing Service and Utilization System Construction' project

SDT (CEO Jiwon Yoon) announced that it will participate in the 'Quantum Computing Service and Utilization System Construction' project hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT as a member of the KISTI-Megazone consortium and begin developing a quantum cloud platform. This project is a national project that will build a platform that combines Korea's first world-class ion trap quantum computer and the KISTI supercomputer. It aims to foster Korea as a key hub of the quantum technology ecosystem by going beyond simple infrastructure introduction and creating a performance-oriented 'K-Quantum Station'.

Through this project, SDT will build a hybrid quantum cloud service platform (QaaS) that links high-performance computing (HPC) and ion trap quantum computers into a single system, allowing users to access high-performance computing resources via the web.

SDT's technological prowess and experience are behind the high-level technical task of integrating HPC, quantum computing, and cloud. SDT has accumulated stable cloud service development capabilities by carrying out numerous national projects, including the establishment of a 50-qubit quantum computing research infrastructure. The technology portfolio, which has pursued universality and interoperability, is also increasing the possibility of convergence with ion trap-based technology.

This project involved the participation of key specialized institutions in each field, including KISTI, Megazone, Sookmyung Women's University, GIST, and Kumoh National Institute of Technology, and established a cooperative system. KISTI will oversee the project based on its experience in operating supercomputing services and quantum application experts, while Megazone will provide user technical support and education, and academia will take charge of developing various quantum algorithms to add technical depth. This cooperation is significant in that it is a practical fusion of domestic quantum technology and digital infrastructure, and it is expected to contribute to strengthening national competitiveness by creating a stable quantum computing environment centered on researchers.

Yoon Ji-won, CEO of SDT, said, “I feel a sense of responsibility for SDT to participate as a technology partner at this important time that is opening the future of the quantum technology ecosystem in Korea.” He added, “Based on our capabilities and experience, we will implement a highly reliable hybrid quantum cloud platform and contribute to the substantial growth of the domestic quantum technology ecosystem.”
