Ibis Signs MOU with SM Solutions

Ibis Co., Ltd. (CEO Nam Ki-mo), a vehicle mobility software company, and SM Solutions Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Sang-mo), a cybersecurity and AI technology specialist, announced on July 8 that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for joint development of AI-based technologies in the automotive and mobility fields.

Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to build a software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform by converging on-device AI technology and security AI technology.

Ibis has been developing embedded software applied to vehicle digital clusters, infotainment systems, and vehicle controllers, and has the real-time performance, scalability, and standardization technologies required in SDV environments. SM Solutions is an IT solution company specializing in cybersecurity and AI-based threat detection, software quality verification, and security automation technologies.

Through this agreement, the two companies plan to pursue various collaborations, including ▲joint development of on-device AI-based vehicle software and services, ▲cooperation on testing and verification technologies to secure AI reliability in the SDV environment, ▲joint research on AI-based security vulnerability analysis and penetration testing, and ▲establishment of an in-vehicle software protection system based on AI-security convergence.

Ibis will be responsible for developing a software framework for implementing in-vehicle data processing and AI inference functions, and will provide application technology in edge computing environments. SM Solutions will support enhanced security by utilizing generative AI and large-scale language model-based learning technology, and will pursue verification applications of security technologies specialized for real-vehicle environments.

“With the advent of the SDV era, the software architecture within vehicles is rapidly shifting to focus on AI, and in the future, it will evolve into an ADV (AI-Defined Vehicle) where AI will lead the vehicle architecture,” said Ibis CEO Nam Ki-mo. “Through this collaboration, we will advance on-device AI technology and security systems to lay the foundation to support them.”

SM Solutions CEO Kim Sang-mo said, “By combining the technological capabilities of both companies, we will provide an AI security solution for vehicles with reliability and safety suitable for the SDV and ADV era, and strengthen our competitiveness in the global market.”
