Drone autonomous flight technology company NearsLab announced on the 10th that its CEO, Jaehyuk Choi, was selected as a 'person of merit in the Republic of Korea's drone industry' and received a commendation from the Minister of National Defense. This commendation is given to individuals who have contributed to national industrial and technological independence through the development of advanced weapon systems and enhancement of defense research and development (R&D) capabilities.
With this award, NearLab has received ministerial commendations from all major government ministries, including the Ministry of National Defense, which means that the company’s drone technology and industrial contributions have been officially recognized at the government level. This has further strengthened its position as a drone technology company that encompasses both the civilian and defense sectors.
CEO Choi has been leading the development and commercialization of defense industry drone products based on NearLab's AI-based autonomous drone technology. Key products include the high-speed interception drone 'KAiDEN' and the swarm autonomous attack drone 'XAiDEN'. Kaiden is a drone that flies at a maximum speed of 250 km/h and has a precision strike function against targets, and won an award at the Edison Awards in the United States last April. Kaiden was first unveiled in February of this year and has received attention from military authorities at home and abroad.
Both products are currently being exported to Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and the overseas expansion of Korean defense drones is in full swing. Such technology commercialization achievements are also attracting attention in the global defense market, and Near Labs was recently included in the list of the 'Top 100 Defense Drone Companies in the World' selected by Defense Post, a defense media outlet.
CEO Choi Jae-hyeok said, “This award is significant in that it recognizes NearLab’s drone technology in the defense sector as well,” and added, “We will continue to innovate to advance our technological capabilities and contribute to the defense industry as a whole.”
