Jeju Center X Kakao Selects 3 Startups to Participate in '2025 J Impact Innovation'

Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Lee Byeong-seon) and Kakao (CEO Jeong Shin-ah) have selected three startups to participate in the '2025 J Impact Innovation', a technology cooperation project to solve environmental issues in the Jeju region, and are embarking on full-scale collaboration.

The two organizations have been collaborating with promising startups in an open innovation manner since 2023, and this year, they are focusing on developing technology-based solutions by introducing the new 'J Impact Innovation' specialized in Jeju's environmental issues.

The startups selected this time are ▲Code of Nature (natural ecosystem and climate change response technology solutions), ▲VP Lab (renewable energy transition and RE100-related technology), and ▲Shell Corporation (recycling of waste Tyvek). Each company will receive a total of 30 million won in commercialization funds and pursue collaboration with Kakao.

Code of Nature Co., Ltd. has a nature-based climate response solution that contributes to the restoration of urban and natural ecosystems, and has experience participating in the Donori Oreum soil restoration project. VPP Lab Co., Ltd. is cooperating with Kakao Jeju Office to achieve its RE100 (100% renewable energy use) goal and is planning to develop a Jeju-style renewable energy model. Shell Corporation Co., Ltd. is carrying out a business that recycles discarded Tyvek materials into new products such as bags.

Meanwhile, on the 9th, the Jeju Center held an orientation for selected companies at Kakao Jeju Space.one, where they explained the project performance management standards and guidelines for using the subsidy, and had time to discuss 1:1 collaboration plans.

An official from the Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center said, “This is an important time for technical responses to protect the local environment, and we hope that through this collaboration, startups will be able to solve local problems technologically.” A Kakao official also said, “Through collaboration with selected companies, we will seek to solve local problems and create synergies between our services, and in the long term, we will contribute to the spread of social value.”
