MI Cube Solution , a manufacturing AI solution specialist, announced on the 11th that it will participate as a key implementing organization in the Daegu region in the 'Manufacturing AI Center Construction Project' promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The 'Manufacturing AI Center Construction Project' is a policy to support the AI Transformation of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies, and aims to establish a manufacturing data utilization base centered on regional bases and strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized companies. Daegu was selected as one of the installation locations last June, and under the leadership of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team, the 'Machine Element and Material Parts Industry AI-based Manufacturing Data Activation Project' will be implemented for three years from 2025 at a total cost of KRW 12 billion.
MI Cube Solution will form a consortium with the main organization, Daegu Techno Park, Acryl, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, etc. to jointly carry out this project. Based on its expertise and performance in the manufacturing AI field, such as quality prediction, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and process optimization, it plans to focus on building an autonomous manufacturing infrastructure applicable to local manufacturing companies.
In particular, by introducing a standard data collection and management system based on AAS (Asset Administration Shell), we plan to increase interconnectivity and operational efficiency between facilities, and provide functions such as process quality prediction, condition optimization, and real-time visualization using an AI simulation platform. In addition, we plan to lower the barriers to AI adoption for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies and support technology internalization by establishing a service portal and data-based decision-making system.
Through this project, MI Cube Solution plans to conduct a single demonstration for 29 companies manufacturing metal products, general and precision machinery, and transportation machinery, and a cross demonstration for 8 companies. Through this, the strategy is to contribute to resolving structural problems in the manufacturing industry in the Daegu region, such as outdated processes, an aging workforce, and low digital conversion rates.
Lee Chung-heon, head of the AM business division at MI Cube Solutions, said, “This project will be an opportunity to transform the constitution of the local manufacturing industry beyond infrastructure construction,” and added, “MI Cube Solutions will carry out the project as a practical partner for manufacturing AI based on the technological prowess and proven experience accumulated in various manufacturing sites.”
He continued, “In the future, we plan to present a nationwide autonomous manufacturing model through collaboration with other local governments, such as Gyeonggi Techno Park, and linkage with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘KAMP (Korean AI Manufacturing Platform)’,” adding, “We will contribute to building an autonomous manufacturing-based ecosystem that goes beyond technology transfer and connects local industries, talent, and data.”
