Lotte Ventures announced on the 16th that it will participate in the 2025 Agricultural and Food Tech Startup Expo (AFPRO) to be held at COEX in Seoul from July 16th to 18th, along with 7 startups selected from its food tech open innovation program 'Future Diet'.
Lotte Ventures, the corporate venture capital (CVC) of Lotte Group, has been discovering promising domestic food tech startups through ‘Future Diet’ and providing PoC (proof of concept) collaboration opportunities with Lotte Group affiliates. The program is run in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology and the Korea Institute of Startups and Entrepreneurship Development, and not only Lotte Central Research Institute, Lotte Welfood, and Lotte Chilsung Beverage, but also various affiliates such as Lotte Hotel, Korea Seven, Lotte Home Shopping, and Lotte Duty Free are participating as mentors to support the growth and market entry of startups.
A total of 7 companies, including 4 companies from the 5th Future Diet Generation and 3 existing companies, are jointly participating in this expo. The participating companies are Romansive, which develops customized sleeping food; Monthly Weekly, which provides a one-stop mainstream PB solution based on brand IP; Nanu, which has developed an eco-friendly pulp container and packaging solution to replace disposable plastic; ABBR, which develops alternative coffee by upcycling beer by-products; Biocom, which operates the sugar-free Korean food brand ‘Zero Bapsang’ and the keto lunchbox brand ‘Team Kito’; Reharvest, which reprocesses and utilizes food manufacturing by-products; and SY Solution, which develops plant-based meat substitutes.
Lotte Ventures has set up booths for this exhibition so that visitors can directly see and experience the products of participating companies. Through this, it is expected that startups will be able to expand their contact points with diverse potential customers and explore new market opportunities.
Park Jun-young, team leader of Lotte Ventures’ Open Innovation Team, said, “We wanted to provide an opportunity for consumers to directly experience the technologies and products of companies participating in Lotte Ventures’ flagship food tech program, Future Diet,” and “We hope that the AFPRO exhibition will serve as an opportunity for participating companies to expand their businesses in earnest.”
