Content creator platform company Sandoll (CEO Youngho Yoon) announced on the 22nd that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with the Korean Committee for UNICEF (Chairman Gapyoung Jeong) for the ‘development of children’s handwriting fonts.’
The signing ceremony took place on the 21st at the UNICEF Korea Committee building in Mapo-gu, Seoul, and was attended by officials from both sides, including Sandoll CEO Yoon Young-ho and UNICEF Korea Committee Secretary-General Jo Mi-jin.
This agreement was promoted as part of a social contribution project to respect children's creativity and rights and to spread their value through digital content. Sandol will begin font development based on the winning works from the 'UNICEF Children's Handwriting Contest' hosted by the UNICEF Korean Committee. The winning works will be converted into fonts, with one grand prize winner (integrated) and one excellence winner (one each from the infant and elementary school divisions).
Sandol plans to develop a font that preserves the unique character and emotion of handwriting while also having versatility and technical perfection that can be used in various digital environments.
The developed font will be released on November 20, World Children's Day, and will be applied to all of the official contents of the UNICEF Korea Committee thereafter. The main uses include ▲Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) publication materials ▲global online fundraising campaigns ▲content related to commemorative days, and it will be used as a visual means to convey messages about children's rights, equality, and participation. The font will also be distributed free of charge to general users through Sandoll's digital font platform, 'Sandoll Cloud.'
UNICEF Korea Secretary-General Cho Mi-jin said, “This collaboration to create a font that captures the pure emotions of children is a meaningful social contribution,” and added, “I am deeply grateful to Sandoll for their talent donation and technological prowess.”
Yoon Young-ho, CEO of Sandoll, said, “Children’s handwriting is full of imagination and emotion,” and added, “This agreement is an example that shows how Sandoll’s technology can contribute to realizing social value beyond the content industry.”
