
Union Biometrics, a biometric solution specialist, announced on the 22nd that it has obtained K-Mark certification for its fake face identification access control system utilizing infrared (IR) technology.
The K-Mark is a quality certification system for industrial products granted by the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy after strict quality and safety examination. The access control system certified this time has improved security by applying technology that can effectively identify forged faces using photos, videos, 3D masks, etc. by adjusting the intensity of infrared rays during the facial recognition process.
In addition, it is equipped with Union Biometrics' own integrated security solution, UBio Alpeta, to provide various functions such as access control, attendance management, food management, and visitor management. UBio Alpeta is a product that has acquired GS Grade 1 software quality certification.
A company official said, “While non-contact facial recognition technology is recognized for its convenience, there are security concerns about fake faces,” and “Through this K-Mark certification, we have officially received recognition for our infrared-based fake face detection technology.” He added, “We will continue to strengthen our technological competitiveness through domestic and international patents and certifications.”
