MegaZone Cloud (CEO Dong-Hoon Yeom), an AI and cloud specialized company, announced on the 23rd that it signed an 'MOU for AI-based sustainable social innovation and promotion of community welfare' with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This agreement was held at the UNDP Green One office in Hanoi, Vietnam, and was attended by key officials from both sides, including MegaZone Cloud CEO Dong-Hoon Yeom and UNDP Vietnam Representative Ramla Khalidi.
Through this collaboration, the two sides announced that MegaZone Cloud will participate as an official partner in the UNDP's 'AI for Social Good' initiative, a program to support developing countries. The program aims to solve major social and environmental issues such as responding to climate change, expanding inclusive public services, and improving governance through technology.
According to the agreement, the two sides plan to establish ethical AI utilization plans suitable for Vietnamese society and promote cooperation such as developing education and practical guidelines on AI governance and ethics. In particular, they will jointly explore ways to apply AI technology to solve major issues in Vietnam such as ▲ landmine removal ▲ air pollution mitigation ▲ public health improvement.
The priority task included developing a mobile application using AI to prevent damage caused by unexploded ordnance and landmines remaining in the central region of Vietnam. UNDP will work with Vietnamese government agencies to build a cloud-based landmine data management system, and MegaZone Cloud will participate in the project through data analysis, predictive modeling, and intelligent automation technology.
“AI is a technology that can contribute to solving complex social problems such as climate, health, education, and governance,” said Lhamra Haridi, UNDP Permanent Representative for Vietnam. “We hope that this collaboration will introduce practical technology-based solutions to key challenges facing Vietnam.”
MegaZone Cloud CEO Dong-Hoon Yeom said, “We will work with UNDP to bring about positive impacts on local communities and achieve sustainable development through technology,” and added, “We will continue to realize social value together with global partners.”
