Daejeon Innovation Center, 'Local SME Open Innovation with DVS' Meetup Day Held

The Daejeon Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Daehee Park, hereinafter referred to as the Daejeon Innovation Center) successfully held the “Regional SME Open Innovation with DVS” meetup day on the 23rd at the Daejeon Startup Park headquarters, co-hosted by the Korea Federation of SMEs, Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute.

This meetup day was designed to provide 1:1 collaboration opportunities between 4 local mid-sized companies, including Taekyung Group, Hyundai Polytech, Hwashin, and SL, and 12 nationwide startups selected through a preliminary document evaluation.

At the event, startups that could collaborate in the areas of demand suggested by each SME met directly with each company representative to explore the possibility of collaboration based on their technology and business links. Startups in various industries such as manufacturing innovation, eco-friendly materials, smart sensors, and mobility presented solutions based on the needs of SMEs.

Daejeon Innovation Center plans to actively support the promotion of PoC (proof of concept) between promising startups and mid-sized companies through this Meetup Day, and will also pursue practical follow-up collaboration such as commercialization and investment linkage (TIPS) with partner organizations based on the results of the PoC verification in the future.

In particular, Daejeon Innovation Center is expanding the scope of collaboration from large corporations to mid-sized companies through its own open innovation specialized program, Dream Venture Star (DVS), and is leading the way in activating the private sector-centered innovation ecosystem across industries. This open innovation was also promoted with the goal of solving problems in actual industrial sites and linking practical collaboration and commercialization based on technology demand.

Park Dae-hee, CEO of Daejeon Innovation Center, said, “Meetup Day has become a starting point for local mid-sized companies and startups to create new value together, going beyond a simple meeting,” and added, “We will continue to foster a private-sector-centered open innovation ecosystem to increase the competitiveness of local industries.”
