Daejeon Disaster Psychological Recovery Support Center-Yuseong-gu Senior Welfare Center, 'Psychological Support Companion Agreement' Signed

Daejeon Disaster Psychological Recovery Support Center (Director Seo Jeong-ah) and Yuseong-gu Senior Welfare Center (Director Ryu Jae-ryong) signed a 'Psychological Support Agreement for Disaster Vulnerable Groups' at Yuseong-gu Senior Welfare Center on the 24th. The two organizations plan to work closely together to strengthen the psychological recovery and safety net of disaster-vulnerable groups such as the elderly in the region.

According to the agreement, the two organizations will work together to ▲establish a community network to support vulnerable groups in disaster psychological situations, ▲jointly operate a psychological support program for senior centers, ▲mutually support professional manpower and educational resources, and ▲jointly promote and raise awareness of psychological recovery.

In particular, with this agreement as an opportunity, counselors will be placed within the Yuseong-gu Senior Welfare Center, and a ‘mobile counseling center that visits the center once a week’ will be operated so that seniors visiting the center can receive regular psychological counseling, thereby strengthening emotional care in everyday life.

On this day, the executives including Eun-sook Kim, the president of the Yuseong-gu branch of the Korean Red Cross, attended the signing ceremony and expressed their intention to unite in community care and disaster psychological recovery support.

Center Director Seo Jeong-ah said, “This agreement is not simply cooperation between organizations, but the beginning of a sustainable community disaster psychological support model for the mental recovery of senior citizens,” adding, “We will continue to practice caring for the elderly more closely by operating a mobile counseling center.”

Director Ryu Jae-ryong said, “I hope this agreement will be an important stepping stone so that the elderly who visit the welfare center can receive care for not only their physical health but also their emotional health,” and added, “We will continue to expand the scope of welfare through cooperation with related organizations in the region.”

Chairwoman Kim Eun-sook said, “It is meaningful that this has become an opportunity for all members of the local community to share their hearts and care together,” and added, “In the future, the Yuseong-gu Council of the Korean Red Cross will continue to be a warm source of strength for the elderly through practical sharing activities.”
