GMD Soft Receives KOLAS Accreditation as an Authorized Testing Laboratory

Digital forensics specialist GMD Soft (CEO Hyunsoo Kim) announced on the 28th that it has received accreditation as an authorized testing agency for the three core digital forensics fields from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS).

In particular, physical recovery forensics is a high-difficulty technology that restores data from damaged storage devices, and this certification marks the first public recognition in this field by a domestic private company.

This KOLAS accreditation is the result of a comprehensive evaluation of the quality system, technical capabilities, and testing environment based on the ISO/IEC 17025 international standard. ISO/IEC 17025 is a global standard for assessing the quality and reliability of testing and inspection organizations, and is considered essential for securing credibility in digital forensic analysis.

In this evaluation, GMDSoft utilized its proprietary forensic solutions, MD-NEXT (mobile data acquisition) and MD-RED (mobile data analysis). This established a foundation for institutionally demonstrating digital evidence analysis capabilities and the reliability of results during civil and criminal litigation.

Additionally, since it is qualified to directly issue forensic examination reports, it can be utilized in collaboration with public institutions such as investigative agencies, audit agencies, and courts, as well as private legal institutions such as law firms.

Kim Hyun-soo, CEO of GMDOFT, said, “This accreditation as an authorized testing agency goes beyond simple certification; it establishes a foundation for digital forensic analysis with legal credibility and international competitiveness.” He added, “Based on this, we plan to accelerate our entry into the North American and European markets, which require ISO/IEC 17025 certification, and focus our capabilities on developing next-generation AI-based forensic technology.”
