Artificial intelligence (AI) startup Hypernote (CEO Jiheon Jeong and Yujong Lee) announced on the 29th that it has secured follow-up investment after being selected for the S25 batch program of the US accelerator Y Combinator following an initial investment from Krew Capital in recognition of its on-device AI-based meeting note technology.
HyperNote is developing a security-focused AI meeting note application that combines a familiar notepad-like interface with on-device AI technology to record and summarize meeting audio in real time, as well as supporting task management. All AI operations, including voice-to-text conversion, are processed on the user's device, eliminating cloud transmission. The open-source code allows corporate security and compliance teams to directly verify and implement it within their internal systems.
Our proprietary Small Language Model (SLM) operates seamlessly on laptop CPUs and NPUs without the need for server-grade GPUs, delivering consistent performance even during overseas business trips or in isolated network environments. We are currently securing initial customers in industries where confidential information protection is crucial, such as investment banking (IB), healthcare, law firms, and consulting, and are enhancing our speech indexing and summarization capabilities to meet security regulations.
Y Combinator is a global startup accelerator that has produced global tech companies like Airbnb, Dropbox, and Coinbase. Among Korean startups, Sendbird, MarkVision, and Miso have successfully entered the global market through its program. The YC batch program boasts a 1% acceptance rate and offers three months of intensive mentoring and seed investment. Building on this success, HyperNote plans to focus on expanding into the North American and European markets, optimizing its on-device AI models, and revitalizing the open source community.
HyperNote's early investor, Crew Capital, a venture capital firm focused on campus entrepreneurs in Korea and the US, has produced three consecutive YC startups over the past year, following Weble (S24) and Pickle (W25). Crew Capital plans to actively support HyperNote's expansion into the global enterprise market by leveraging its network of local customers and investors in the US.
"In environments where security is paramount, cloud-based meeting notes have been difficult to use, resulting in significant inconvenience," said Jeong Ji-heon, CEO of HyperNote. "HyperNote processes all AI calculations on-device and is designed to be open-source, ensuring transparency and enabling direct verification by businesses. We will establish an industry standard that professionals who handle sensitive information can use with confidence."
