Rex Innovation (CEO Lim Jeong-min), a renewable energy platform company, has been selected for the "KEPCO Energy Startup 2025," hosted by the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). This is the second such selection, following last year's, and reaffirms Rex Innovation's competitiveness as a small-scale hydropower-based renewable energy technology company.
"KEPCO Energy Startup 2025" is a program that supports promising startups in the new energy industry by providing support for technology verification, procurement linkages, and investment attraction. A total of 172 companies applied this year, and 21 were ultimately selected.
Rex Innovation's technological prowess has been recognized based on its EPC capabilities for small hydropower plants, as well as the field applicability and demonstration data of its proprietary "flow-responsive torque control technology." This technology is currently in operation at a small hydropower plant in Kyrgyzstan through the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI)'s Green Technology Overseas Demonstration Project. It is recognized for its ability to maintain power generation efficiency and system stability even under conditions of rapid flow fluctuations.
In addition to small hydropower, Rex Innovation possesses platform technology that integrates the entire renewable energy cycle, including solar power, energy storage systems (ESS), energy management systems (EMS), remote control units (RTUs), demand response (DR), and virtual power plants (VPPs). This is attracting attention as a capability that can realize a net-zero-based energy transition.
Meanwhile, Rex Innovation has obtained GS (Good Software) Grade 1 certification for its integrated EMS-based power brokerage and control platform technology, and is currently utilizing this to develop various projects, including peak load control for public institutions, construction of renewable energy-linked VPP, and demand response-based control systems.
