The Ministry of SMEs and Startups officially launched the "Consumption Activation Task Force" to revitalize consumer sentiment.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Han Sung-sook, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced on Tuesday the 30th that it officially launched the “Consumption Activation Task Force” to restore consumer sentiment nationwide and revitalize local commercial districts, and held its first meeting.

Minister Han Seong-sook, taking advantage of the announcement of the joint public-private "Domestic Demand and Consumption Activation Campaign" held the previous day, requested company-wide participation so that the purpose of activating domestic demand and consumption could spread not only to the private sector but also to the entire Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and accordingly, the Consumption Activation Task Force was launched.

The task force will operate regularly under the chairmanship of the vice minister, and the headquarters, regional offices, and affiliated organizations of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will focus on expanding the nationwide campaign and developing effective consumption stimulation measures. Specifically, it is composed of five divisions: ▲General Team (Consumption Promotion Planning), ▲Consumption Promotion Team (Consumption Promotion Events), ▲Field Support Team (Cooperation with Regional Offices and Public Institutions), ▲External Cooperation Team (Cooperation with Associations), and ▲Performance Promotion (Public Relations).

Immediately following the meeting, Vice Minister Noh Yong-seok visited Sejong Traditional Market in Jochiwon-eup, toured the local market and surrounding commercial districts, and encouraged local merchants. He then personally promoted the purpose of revitalizing consumption and conducted a shopping campaign.

This shopping event is more than just a simple campaign; it is a symbolic event that marks the beginning of a nationwide relay consumption revitalization campaign centered on non-metropolitan areas and declining population areas, and is scheduled to expand to major regions nationwide starting in August.

Vice Minister Noh Yong-seok emphasized, “This task force is a control tower for revitalizing consumption and an implementation organization focused on the field,” and asked, “Each regional office and its affiliated organizations should work closely with local governments, public institutions, and businesses in the region to actively promote consumption revitalization programs that reflect regional characteristics so that they can lead to tangible results in the field.”

In addition to the consumption stimulus atmosphere promoted by the government-wide Citizens' Livelihood Power Consumption Coupon, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to use the launch of this task force as an opportunity to continuously promote consumption events such as the Donghaeng Festival and Sangsaeng Payback, special refunds for digital Onnuri gift certificates, and relay shopping events between local government offices and public institutions, so that the warmth of consumption stimulus can spread to all citizens.
