Dongil C&I simultaneously obtains two types of flame-retardant certification from FM Approvals.

Dongil C&I Co., Ltd. (CEO Baek Seong-gi), an environmental and composite material specialist, announced on the 1st that it had simultaneously obtained FM4910, a flame-retardant material certification, and FM4922, a flame-retardant duct system certification, from global testing and certification agency FM Approvals.

FM4910 certification is granted to materials that minimize flame spread and have low combustion gas density in the event of a fire. Dongil C&I obtained this certification through its proprietary flame-retardant FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) material. FM4922 certification is granted to duct systems that suppress flame and smoke spread in the event of a fire and maintain structural safety. It is only possible to obtain this certification if it meets international safety standards required in high-risk industries such as the chemical, semiconductor, electronics, and energy industries.

FM Approvals, which issued this certification, was founded in 1886 and is a globally recognized certification body in the fire protection field. It is also renowned for its rigorous testing standards and regular follow-up maintenance. FM certification is used by major insurance companies worldwide as a fire safety quality standard and, in some countries, is also used as a basis for insurance premium discounts.

Dongil C&I, a subsidiary of DI Dongil Co., Ltd., supplies equipment to reduce harmful gases and fine dust generated in cutting-edge industries such as semiconductor and display manufacturing sites.

A DI Dongil official said, “This FM certification is an international recognition of Dongil C&I’s technological prowess and product reliability,” and added, “It has enabled us to supply high-performance flame-retardant equipment to various industries beyond the existing semiconductor and display fields, such as chemicals, steel, secondary batteries, and power plants, and it will serve as an important foundation for expanding into the global market.”
