Digital healthcare startup Eight Studio (CEO Park Shin-ki) announced on the 4th that it has successfully secured seed funding, accelerating its expansion into the North American and European markets. Korea Investment Accelerator, MYSC, and The Wells Investment jointly participated in this round, with existing investor MYSC making a follow-on investment.
With this investment, Eight Studio plans to actively pursue global business expansion, including local market research in San Francisco, USA, and a collaborative project with the University of Basel, Switzerland, scheduled for September.
Developed by Eight Studio, MediStep is a markerless gait analysis solution that leverages the iPad's on-device AI technology. It precisely measures full-body joint movement without the need for separate sensors. Compared to existing equipment costing hundreds of millions of won, MediStep boasts a measurement accuracy of approximately 95%, while reducing costs by over 90%. In May, MediStep received NET New Technology certification from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, officially recognizing its technological prowess.
Park Shin-ki, CEO of Eight Studio, said, “The field of gait analysis medical devices has a high barrier to entry, but Medistep is approaching it with a solution that combines practicality and precision.” He added, “We will expand cooperation with domestic and international medical institutions to accumulate references and simultaneously advance into the global market.”
Lee Seong-moon, team leader at Korea Investment Accelerator, said, “Eight Studio is a team that is rapidly commercializing gait analysis technology in actual medical and welfare settings,” and “Its execution capabilities stand out in various aspects, such as responding to domestic and international regulations, expanding the empirical base, and global integration.”
