
Senior content and commerce startup The New Gray (Co-CEOs Yoo Dae-young and Kim Jeong-hoon) announced on the 5th that it was finally selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' technology startup support program 'TIPS'.
The New Gray was selected for the TIPS program upon the recommendation of seed investment firm Bluepoint Partners, and will receive up to 500 million won in research and development (R&D) funding over a period of up to two years. TIPS is the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' flagship startup support program, which identifies and fosters promising technology startups in conjunction with private investment.
The New Gray aims to build a single value chain for seniors, encompassing content, academy, community, and commerce, powered by AI technology. The company is expanding into trust-based commerce through IP development centered around senior influencers. With this TIPS selection as an opportunity, The New Gray plans to prioritize: △ enhancing its AI-based academy service, △ expanding collaborations with global brands, and △ refining its customized IP commerce system.
The New Gray gained public attention through its "Change My Dad's Profile Picture" project, amassing approximately 1 million social media followers. It currently trains over 200 senior creators annually and has collaborated with over 70 domestic and international brands on advertising campaigns.
The New Gray is focusing on the market's growth potential, centered on the "active senior" and "ageless" trends. According to Statistics Korea and related industry reports, the domestic silver economy market is projected to expand to approximately KRW 168 trillion by 2030.
