The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as “KIBO”) announced that it has established a “Carbon Neutral Platform” to support carbon neutrality of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the activation of green finance, and has begun full-scale service on the 5th (Tuesday).
Through this platform, KIBO provides a 'Carbon Reduction Self-Diagnosis Service' to support small and medium-sized enterprises' carbon emission management, and a 'Taxonomy Self-Diagnosis Service' to easily check whether corporate activities meet the K-Taxonomy (Korean Green Classification System) standards.
The "Carbon Reduction Self-Diagnosis Service" allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to input information such as their energy usage status and transition plans, thereby directly assessing their greenhouse gas emissions and developing carbon reduction plans. By simulating projected carbon emissions and reduction effects, SMEs can concretely assess the feasibility of their reduction plans and enhance their practical implementation capabilities.
The "Taxonomy Self-Diagnosis Service" is a system that allows companies to independently determine whether their economic activities comply with K-Taxonomy standards. This service operates in two modes: a "search" mode, where companies search for product or business names, and a "selection" mode, where matching results are automatically verified through step-by-step questions and answers.
KIBO plans to leverage the self-assessment data submitted by companies to provide follow-up support, including preferential guarantees and certification programs, to carbon-reducing companies. Furthermore, the company plans to enhance its platform's functionality to develop a specialized carbon assessment model and align it with international standards, including the European Union (EU) taxonomy, thereby enhancing the global environmental regulatory capacity of domestic SMEs.
Kim Jong-ho, Chairman of Kibo, said, “Kibo’s carbon neutral platform, following the introduction of the green sector specialized guarantee this year, will serve as a foundation for supporting the new government’s carbon neutrality policy and the green growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.” He added, “Kibo will continue to actively support small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies as a policy finance institution so that they can proactively respond to the transition to carbon neutrality.”
