DayOne Company Participates in the "Independent AI Foundation Model" Project

DayOne Company (CEO Kangmin Lee) announced on the 6th that it will participate in the 'Independent AI Foundation Model' development project promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and will serve as an education partner for the Upstage Consortium.

This government-led project aims to strengthen South Korea's AI technology independence by developing a world-class, independent AI model by 2027. For this purpose, the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) selected five consortiums: Upstage, Naver Cloud, SK Telecom, NC AI, and LG AI Research Institute.

Among these, Upstage is the sole startup sponsor and is leading the development of "Solar WBL," a large-scale language model with 300 billion parameters. The model is primarily focused on Korean, but is also planning multilingual support for Japanese, Southeast Asian languages, and more.

DayOne Company will be responsible for the "National AI Literacy Education" component of this project, planning and operating practical AI education content that can be directly applied to real-life situations and work. Key initiatives include: developing an online AI education curriculum for the public; producing industry-specific training kits; and hosting a nationwide AI hackathon and competition.

The training targets all generations, from elementary school students to college students, adults, and working professionals. The company plans to contribute to the development of digital professionals through a comprehensive curriculum that covers everything from basic understanding of AI to ethical use and practical application.

Lee Kang-min, CEO of Day One Company, said, “AI is not a technology exclusive to certain experts, but a digital literacy that all citizens should be able to understand and utilize.” He added, “Through this project, we will create an educational foundation that allows anyone to access AI, and continue to provide practical support for technological independence.”
