Global video chat platform company Hyperconnect announced on the 11th that it has appointed Choi Ui-jong, former technical director (TD) of Smilegate RPG, as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
CTO Choi Eui-jong is a veteran technology leader with over 20 years of experience, having spearheaded technology strategy development and the establishment of large-scale engineering organizations in the gaming and platform industries. With this appointment, Hyperconnect plans to accelerate its technology-driven growth strategy and strengthen its global competitiveness.
Prior to joining the company, CTO Choi oversaw the development of "Lost Ark Mobile" at Smilegate RPG, served as the technical director of the action RPG "HIT" at Nexon Games, and was the technical director of "Lost Saga" at Wemade IO. He held various key technical positions. While at Smilegate RPG, he established a new mobile studio and established a quality-focused development culture. At Nexon Games, he was responsible for the global expansion and localization of key games, as well as the establishment of a stable operating system. During his tenure as CTO at Wemade IO, he doubled the size of the development organization and launched major game projects.
Going forward, CTO Choi plans to leverage Hyperconnect's technological capabilities to enhance service competitiveness, enhance technology strategy, and advance its development culture. He plans to strengthen the technology leadership structure under the CTO's direct control, creating an organization capable of responding nimbly to global market changes. He also aims to strengthen technological capabilities optimized for a global user environment, foster collaboration among engineers, and foster a development organization that fosters sustainable growth.
