AFI (CEO Oh-Hyun Kwon), a global game server SaaS platform operator, announced on the 11th that it will participate in 'Gamescom 2025' held in Cologne, Germany from August 20th to 24th with a solo booth.
At this exhibition, AFI will showcase "Worlds," a server infrastructure service for developing massively multiplayer online (MMO) games. "Worlds" provides a server environment that maintains the game world even after players disconnect, along with an API to support it. By automating complex processes like real-time synchronization, server expansion, and data management, it allows even developers without server expertise to create a stable MMO environment.
Specifically, developers no longer need to directly handle the various tasks required for server construction and operation, such as network engine, database management, scalable architecture, cloud configuration, deployment, and monitoring. This allows for a seamless gameplay experience, even in MMORPGs where user interaction is crucial or in action games requiring rapid movement. In-game objects and environmental data are synchronized in real time through the network engine, ensuring that all players experience the same game state, even in large-scale concurrent environments.
"World" received positive reviews when it was released as a demo at GDC 2025 in San Francisco in March. At Gamescom, the game plans to showcase an improved version that reflects feedback and accelerate its push into the European market.
AFI CEO Kwon Oh-hyun said, “MMO game development has a high technological barrier, but with ‘World,’ large-scale multiplayer games can be developed without the burden of building infrastructure,” and “We will create an environment where developers around the world can freely create MMO games.”
