Crowdworks , an AI data specialist company, announced on the 12th that it had won a contract for the 'Broadcast Video AI Learning Data Construction Project' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Radio Promotion Association.
This project aims to build and validate high-quality training data for the development of AI models specialized in the broadcasting and video industry. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Radio Promotion Association have selected four consortia and will provide a total of KRW 19.32 billion, with KRW 4.83 billion allocated to each consortium.
Crowdworks plans to form a consortium with MBC as the host, iMBC, Datamaker, and LG Management Development Institute AI Research Institute to build a broadcast video dataset of approximately 5,000 hours for AI training.
In this project, Crowdworks is responsible for building a broadcast video understanding dataset that reflects the linguistic, cultural, and historical characteristics of Korean society. Its primary role involves designing and processing a multimodal dataset that multi-labels various elements within the video, such as objects, actions, and scenes, enabling AI to infer meaning based on audiovisual information.
The company plans to leverage its accumulated data processing and quality control expertise across various industries to implement a complex data structure based on video, images, and text, enabling advanced AI learning. This will provide a foundation for developing advanced video understanding capabilities, such as broadcast content analysis and automatic key scene extraction.
Crowdworks' strategy is to use this project as an opportunity to demonstrate its technological prowess and execution capabilities in the field of multimodal AI data construction, and to expand the demand for multimodal AI data to various industries in the future.
Kim Woo-seung, CEO of Crowdworks, said, “Video data requires high-difficulty AI learning data processing capabilities because various elements are complexly intertwined,” and added, “Through this project, we will do our best to increase the utility of domestic broadcast video content and contribute to the development of the domestic and international AI industry.”
