This agreement stipulates that the Gyeonggi Innovation Center will serve as a northern hub for fostering Uijeongbu's startup ecosystem, jointly pursuing sustainable collaborative projects such as discovering and nurturing promising startups in cutting-edge future industries.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both organizations, including Gyeonggi Innovation Center CEO Kim Won-kyung and Uijeongbu City Mayor Kim Dong-geun.
Through this agreement, the two organizations agreed to pursue cooperation focused on: ▲discovering and nurturing startups within Uijeongbu City; ▲supporting the attraction and establishment of promising startups in the region; ▲jointly operating commercialization and investment attraction programs such as education, consulting, and investor relations; ▲activating the startup investment ecosystem; and ▲creating a cutting-edge defense industry ecosystem. Furthermore, the two organizations plan to continue discussions in areas where cooperation is recognized.
Based on this agreement, the Gyeonggi Innovation Center will jointly plan and promote various startup support activities with Uijeongbu City, including 'Startup 815 IR', 'In-depth Networking', and collaborative programs with local startups, centered around the Gyeonggi Northern Office (tentative name) scheduled to open on the 10th floor of the Goyang Seongsa Creative Innovation Campus (CIC) in November 2025.
Kim Won-kyung, CEO of the Gyeonggi Innovation Center, said, “This agreement establishes a concrete implementation foundation for fostering a regional startup ecosystem in cooperation with Uijeongbu City,” and added, “We will expand cooperation so that the infrastructure and capabilities of both organizations can be combined to provide practical support for the growth of startups.”
