Soi Media (CEO Heo Se-hyun), a global webtoon and web novel IP studio, announced on the 14th that it has secured new investment from multiple institutions, including Hyundai Technology Investment. The investment amount was undisclosed, but the industry sees this investment as a positive market assessment of Soi Media's global content production capabilities and growth potential.
Soi Media is a content studio that plans and produces original webtoon IPs, focusing on the female-oriented genre. They focus on developing content targeting global markets such as Japan, North America, and China. Their recently released Japanese webtoon, "The 101st Confession," not only ranked first overall on Kakao Page's weekly chart in Korea but also ranked first overall on Piccoma's daily chart, proving its commercial success.
In addition, original IP-based works such as <The Obsidian Bride> and <Please Put Me to Sleep> are steadily attracting market attention, and numerous new works are scheduled to be released, including Noble Comics' <I'm a Homebody, but I Got Possessed by a Ruined Object>. Following its strategic investment from Kakao Piccoma last year, Soi Media plans to further accelerate its global market expansion with this investment.
“As domestic content is gaining attention in the global market, it is becoming increasingly important to create IPs that can resonate with and garner positive responses from overseas readers,” said Heo Se-hyeon, CEO of Soi Media. “Based on this investment, we plan to expand content development tailored to the market characteristics of various regions, including Japan, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.”
