Art commerce platform Artisty has announced that it received an investment from Samsung Venture Investment earlier this month.

Founded just one year ago, Artisty is a web and mobile platform where up-and-coming artists can showcase and sell their work. Users can also browse through pieces much like any other social media platform and like or comment on items they like. All artists are approved before selling their work to make sure that buyers are getting the genuine product.

So far, over 2,200 pieces of artwork have uploaded to the platform, with over 2000 members and a strong following on social media..

The art market is currently doing well, with an increasing number of people interested in art and attending events such as exhibitions and art fairs. Through its service, Artisty wants to break away from the formal and exclusive image that the art market often has, and make it more accessible to people from all walks of life.

In order to be able to provide affordable artwork from young and talented artists, the startup has been searching out artists, as well as making partnerships with galleries and has also created its own artist rating system.

Julie Chung, CEO of Artisty, says that the latest investment will be used to focus on improving the platform’s technology and focusing more closely on customer marketing. This will include using its partnerships to take online artworks and showcase them at art fairs, not just in Korea but around the world.
