Fantagram launches 9edit, a new multi-image editing app

The smartphone market has long been saturated with image filter and editing apps. So it’s always interesting to see what new competing apps bring to the table.

Launched yesterday, 9edit is a photo editing and filter app from Fantagram which specializes in touching up multiple photos at once. While most similar services only let you touch up one image at a time, 9edit allows users to apply filters and edit elements, like the color and tone, for up to 27 photos at once. The app makes it easier to get the “right feel” when uploading large sets of photos to social media.

Brightness, temperature, contrast, hue and detail can all be freely altered with 9edit. New filters will also be added every two months and are put through a strict quality test before being released. Fantagram has been beta testing the app over the past three weeks with over 3000 users prior to the launch.

“Editing every individual photo can take time and effort, and is inconvenient for young travelers who frequently use social media,” says Fantagram CEO Kim Geon-yong. “I hope that users will be able to record more memories through 9edit’s convenient photo editing.”

9edit is currently available on the App Store, with an Android version to come out at a later date. Fantagram says that it will continue to improve its service by monitoring user patterns and plans to add custom filters for users from different countries.

The startup launched another camera app named 9cam in 2016 which reached number 1 on the App Store. The app was particularly successful in China and South East Asia, gaining 1.7 million users through word-of-mouth. The company says that in addition to 9cam and 9edit, it also has other upcoming innovative image and camera services in the pipeline.
